Hidden Lantern exists to carry the classical literature of Islamic spirituality — Al-Ghazali, Al-Junayd, Rumi, Ibn Arabi, and their circle — into new print, digital, and audio editions.
Much of this literature was translated into English generations ago and has since fallen out of copyright, but it remains scattered across scanned archives and academic reprints, often hard to find in a readable, well-made edition. Hidden Lantern's work is to gather these translations, prepare them with care, and publish them as books people will actually want to read, listen to, and keep.
Every title in the catalog is sourced from a translation confirmed to be in the public domain in the United States. Where a text has no adequate public-domain translation — as with Al-Junayd's own writings — Hidden Lantern notes that gap openly and, over time, aims to close it with original commissioned translations.
